Welcome to SuSu's Faery Realm....
Faery is a realm, not an individual spirit. In the realm of Faerie, there are many different types of spirit. The origin of the word fairy is found within the mists of early history starting with Ancient Latin. The Fatum or Fates were a group of goddesses who inspired & governed the affairs of mankind. Another species of spirits were the femaleFatuae & the male Fatui, immortals who dwelt in hidden places near lakes, woods & waterfalls. Eventually all these spirits became collectively known as the Fata. The Celts struggled with the strict Latin language & in time the ‘t’ of Fata was dropped & became Fa’a, Fa’ae, Fee & Fay. Eventually Fae stopped meaning a specific group of spirits & became a description for anything otherworldly & mysterious. By the time we had the word Faery it simply meant enchanted.

JACK IN THE
GREEN, May 7TH
Gave this a
miss last year to trade at the local and lovely Wildheart Gathering which was
wonderful, but unfortunately, in spite of having the best time, hardly covered
my costs there, and even a Faery Goddess has to eat sometimes. So, back to the
Jack, I go! Hopefully, it won’t be too windy on top of

excited about this; a tiny (500 ticket) new folk festival in the

FAERY FEST, June 15TH – 17TH, Torpoint,
Ever since
it started, I have wanted to go! Unfortunately, the lovely magickal Karen Kay,
always insists it takes place on the nearest weekend before the Summer
Solstice, even though she would probably do better holding it AFTER
Glastonbury. And quite right too! A Faery should stick to her guns! So my
HOP FARM
FESTIVAL, JUNE 29TH – JULY 1ST, Paddock Wood,
Have you
seen the line-up? Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, Patti Smith, Ray Davis, Kool and
the Gang, The Stranglers, George Clinton, The Levellers, Dr. John, Billy Ocean;
Suede, British Sea Power, Joan Armatrading….whew. I could go on and on but I’m
beginning to bore myself. Say no more; see you there!

BAREFOOT,
July 27th – 29th, Prestwold Hall, Leicestershire, http://www.barefootfestival.com/
This is
rapidly turning into one of my favourite small festies of the summer and going
from strength to strength. Goddess Louisa and gang create a lush vibe, and last
year’s strolling ukulele orchestra, beautiful (and hilarious, thanx Equador!)
burlesque and boylesque, and Victorian Melodrama Society, were highlights that
still make me smile to this day.
GREEN
GATHERING, August 2nd – 5th, Chepstow, Monmouthshire, http://www.greengathering2012.co.uk/
Been a few
years since I’ve gone Green, and I thought I’d give the recently resurrected
(and down sized) Green Gathering a whirl. Have no idea what to expect, so will
report back.
ARTEMIS
GATHERING, August 10th – 13th, Horley, Oxfordshire, http://www.witchfest.net/artemis_gathering.htm
Enjoyed this
pagan chill last year, particular the birds of prey demos, and the music in the
hay bale strewn barn like tent. Kind of like a gentle camping holiday for
witches.
MOSELEY FOLK

A discovery
to me! Great line-up (including Steeleye Span, Julian Cope, Echo and the

confirmed:
